Mr Rai is an expert in a wide range of spinal conditions, including spinal stenosis, cervical fusion, disc replacement, disc prolapse, and scoliosis.   Mr Rai is a highly experienced and skilled spinal surgeon who has helped thousands of patients get back to pain-free living. He is known for his honesty, transparency, and commitment to providing his patients with the best possible care.

  Mr Am Rai is a highly qualified spinal surgeon - he has been a spinal consultant since 2001 and has successfully completed over 10,000 complex spinal operations. During that time, he has gained a reputation for his expertise in treating a wide range of spinal conditions.

  Mr Rai is fellowship trained, having studied in Australia, South Africa, and the USA. He has helped develop core curriculum for spinal training and was the Foundation Programme Director for junior doctors at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. To date, he has trained over 25 spinal consultants himself, who are currently working throughout the UK and in the US.

  Mr Rai is a regular reviewer of unit level surgical practice in the UK via BASS and Royal College of Surgeons. He is also the director of the spinal charity Spine Aid, which arranges regular trips abroad for a team of spinal surgeons to help treat underprivileged children with spinal deformities.

He has developed keyhole/minimal access surgical techniques that allows faster recovery and reduced stay in hospital after Lumbar and cervical disc surgery, spinal stenosis, Complex scoliosis and kyphosis surgery, cervical reconstruction with emphasis disc replacement and motion preservation. He has meticulously collected his surgical data and has published his results and proposed a predictive tool to assess outcome after spinal surgery.

  Scoliosis is a condition where the spine curves sideways in an 'S' shape. It can affect people of all ages, but it is most commonly diagnosed in children aged 10-18. Mr Rai performs complex scoliosis operations in his London hospitals and due to the complex nature of the procedure teams up with other experienced deformity surgeons to give best possible care. He is known for his expertise in this field and his commitment to providing his patients with the best possible care. Mr Rai also operates in the developing world with his charity Spine Aid.

  Laser disc surgery is a new and minimally invasive technique for managing a disc herniation. It is performed under local anaesthetic with sedation, and no stitches are required. Mr Rai performs laser disc surgery in collaboration with other spinal surgeons. He is committed to providing his patients with the latest and most effective treatments available.
